In 2020 my mentor and first teacher, Chris Cushman (Penguin Arms) passed away. I am honored to finish his uncompleted works and get them across the finish line.  All profit will go cancer research and treatment grants. Pieces will be graded in the following manner...

Grade AA: Blade forged, Heat treated and finished by Chris, handle material and design idea chosen by Chris.

Grade A: Blade forged, heat treated, and finished by Chris, handle by Bear Mountain Forge

Grade B: Blade forged, heat treated by Chris, finish by Bear Mountain Forge

Grade C: Blade forged by Chris. Heat treated and finished by Bear Mountain Forge.

Grade AA. This blade was forged to shape and heat treated by Chris, the handle was with it and carved to shape by him. By the markings at the pommel end I could determine he wanted it peened. I finished with a copper bolster and cap from his shop and peened. I believe the handle is maple, and stained with woodstain as he liked to do. 5" blade 9.25" oal

Grade AA. This blade was forged to shape and heat treated by Chris, he had a bone with it, this is a caribou leg bone. Needed a bolster so went with diver salvaged lake superior oak from my collection, he always liked the rusticated look of it. 4" blade 8" oal...a quintessential Cushman piece.

Grade A Bowie. This was a Cushman forged blade from a really dirty 1095 billet, so much alloy banding it almost looks like wootz. This is one of my favorite blades he made. I took inspiration from some previous bowies he had made and forged the guard, hotfitting the guard. Pommel and guard are heat blued and the grip is Irish bogoak. 7" blade and 11.25" oal.

This cutlass blade was forged and finished by Chris Cushman, the client asked me to finish it. I used maple from his shop, and the pommel steel also came from his shop. blade is 5160.
