Type XVIII arming sword. 5160 blade, mild steel guard and pommel with a copper patina. Handle is poplar with cord and dyed leather. Pommel is keyed and peened, guard was hot fitted and peened. Final blade polish then off to Australia. OAL: 34.25" Blade: 28" PoB: 3.5" Weight 2.6 lbs
46 inch long sword with 35.25" blade. Pommel is hollow ground and filed. Fittings are mild steel heat blued than chemical blue topper that I brushed back to a dull grey with the heat blue shimmering through. Handle is Wenge wood, with inlaid twisted copper wire, bordered with tooled and dyed leather sealed with boiled linseed oil. Peen block is brass. Blade is 6150. Weight is 3lbs 12 ounces with a POB of 3.5 inches.
XIV arming sword. 1095 carbon steel, insert is hammered float copper. Inspired by a surviving sword from the 14th century.
"Little Wonders"...a LoTR Sting inspired short sword, 5160 blade, mild steel guard and pommel, box elder burl handle, brass peen washer. OAL: 22" with a blade length of 15.75". Blade is engraved with Sindarin script reading "These little wonders", pommel is hollow ground, guard is engraved with a leaf pattern.
Dismountable handle and blade for stage combat maintenance. Blade is 5160, a blued S over faux gold leaf is in the blade (s is for the clients name). Maple handle covered in dyed leather with risers, chemical blued guard and pommel (easy to maintain for fighting), though the fake peen block which is a nut is fire blued
Migration sword is finished and ready for shipping. This has a story behind it. I built this with patina in the handle to match the blade. I did the weapons for the braveheart follow up called "Robert the Bruce" starring Angus Macfayden, Jared Harris, Zach McGowan and Anna Hutchinson, this blade was a hero blade used in the film. I kept all the original patina and edge damage that it took during the fight sequences. The blade was retired and I rehilted it when I got home. Overall Length is 36", blade is 30", weight is 2 lbs 13 ounces with a POB of 6" from guard. Materials are brass and oak burl with a bronze pommel cap, handle is diver salvaged oak from Lake Superior, historical construction with rivets and the pommel cap riveted on over the peen.
German Messer completed today for HEMA and stage combat use. Made to customers specs and measurements they provided including the visual of "farmer or poor merchant would carry, some flair but leaving some work marks as well". 5160 blade, mild steel blued furniture with filework left as bare steel, grip is stabilized black ash burl. 35.25" OAL with a blade of 26.25". Constructed in one of the historical ways which was an interesting challenge.
